Symptom ======= Increased dataloss advisories observed after installing RV 8.2.0 or RV 8.2.1, when running the 8.2.0 or 8.2.1 daemon(s) mixed with pre 8.2.0 daemons (e.g. 8.1, 7.5 etc.) in the same environment.
Cause ===== RV 8.2.1 and RV 8.2.0 daemons do not service retransmission requests from pre 8.2 daemons. That is, daemons from a 8.2.0/8.2.1 release do not retransmit data when requested by daemons from release 8.1.x and earlier.
This defect also broke sending-side retransmission control, because it affects how the sender identifies lossy receivers.
The defect exists in RV 8.2.0 and 8.2.1 releases.
Workaround ==========
If you are not using the sending-side retransmission control feature, then upgrading all daemons to RV 8.2.0 or RV 8.2.1 is a corrective action. If you are using sending-side retransmission control, or if you cannot upgrade all daemons to 8.2.0/8.2.1, then see the “Resolution” section below.
Resolution ========== Upgrade to RV 8.2.2, where this defect has been fixed. RV 8.2.2 can run in a mixed environment with pre 8.2.0 daemons.
You can download RV 8.2.2 from http://download.tibco.com.
