Description
Resolution: Description ========= If the TIBCO iProcess Engine [iPE] is upgraded to 11.1 and the IPEINSTALL user was different from the IPESERVICE user, it may fail to start properly.
Environment: ========== o TIBCO iProcess Engine 11.1.x o All Windows environments
Symptoms: ========= The iPE service will receive, "Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion", when started via the Services Console or "The service is not responding to the control function", will be thrown in the command window if started via swstart -p.
Cause: ===== Certain files that are added during the upgrade don't have their permissions set properly.
Resolution: ========= To resolve the issue, modify the file permissions on the iPE installation and run fixperms.
o Using an account with local administrator access, right-click the iPE installation folder in Windows Explorer and choose "Properties". An example of the iPE installation folder would be: c:\swserver\staffw_nod1.
o Choose the Security tab and add permissions for the Everyone account and check the box to allow "Full Control". Click the Advanced button and select the checkbox to "Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object".
Choose OK and then OK again.
Although the basics of this process are the same in all Windows environments, some of the selections and dialog entries may be different depending on the particular OS variant in use.
o Run the fixperms utility to reset the file permissions for the iPE installation folder. From a command prompt logged in as the IPESERVICE user, navigate to the bin directory of the iPE installation and run
"fixperms -r -y <path>" where <path> is replaced by the directory iPE is installed into.
For example: fixperms -r -y c:\swserver\staffw_nod1
o Start the iPE services normally.
MR 43040 has been raised for this issue and will be fixed in a subsequent iPE release.
