Resolution:
Information about different values for TYPE column of RELATIONSHIP table. Why is it growing exponentially?

Environment:

TIBCO Product name and version: TIBCO Collaborative Information Manager 7.x.x and 8.x.x
Operating System(s): All Operating Systems

Symptoms:
========
Whenever there are new version of records imported into master catalog even without relationships between records multiple entries are made into the RELATIONSHIP table.

Cause:
=====
Relationship type 3, 4, and 5 are used internally by CIM.
3 and 4 are used to create and maintain the Classification schemes. (Data classifications)
5 is used to maintain the master catalog/repository input map and output map attributes in the attribute groups(Metadata)

If number of records keep growing for type 3 or4 then it is like you are always modifying/changing the value for an attribute which has been used in any of the classification schemes.

Resolution:
========
Everytime the data is changed for the attributes used in the classification scheme, new entries would be made with type 3 and 4 in relationship table.

If you are really not using the classification scheme on your Repository/Catalog, It is recommend to delete the classification scheme on that master catalog.
