The BE multi-engine mode/load balancing feature is not applicable to the BW webservices running inside the BE container so it needs to be configured seperately.

For example, if the webservices are using HTTP transport then you can use a hardware load balancer (like BIG-IP) with a virtual IP address to route the actual incoming webservice requests to the individual servers

A virtual IP address is an IP address that is not connected to a specific computer or network interface card (NIC) on a computer. You configure a load balancer to use with this IP address so that the load balancer routes the incoming requests to the actual hosts/IP addresses in a round-robin fashion.
