Description: ============ When installing and administering TIBCO Object Service Broker for z/OS, when should an SMP/E ACCEPT be performed?
Environment: =========== z/OS systems installing and operating "TIBCO Object Service Broker for z/OS Release 5.0" or any of the SMP/E installed dependent products such as: TIBCO Service Gateway for Adabas TIBCO Service Gateway for CICS TIBCO Service Gateway for DB2 TIBCO Service Gateway for Files TIBCO Service Gateway for IDMS/DB TIBCO Service Gateway for IMS/DB TIBCO Service Gateway for IMS TM
Symptoms: ========= If the ACCEPT is not performed and an attempt is made to apply a Hotfix or an SMP/E related product such as a gateway, then failures of the following nature may occur: GIM23901E ** LINK-EDIT PROCESSING FOR SYSMOD AP12373 FAILED FOR MODULE HDRSB$SV IN LMOD S6BDB2S IN THE SMPLTS LIBRARY. THE RETURN CODE (08) EXCEEDED THE ALLOWABLE VALUE. DATE 09.268 - TIME 16:45:22 - SEQUENCE NUMBER 000022.
Resolution: ========== When installing TIBCO Object Service Broker for z/OS, the SMP/E ACCEPT process, as documented in "TIBCO® Object Service Broker for z/OS Installing and Operating Software Release 5.0" manual pages 12 and 70 is listed as optional. While this is true, the ACCEPT must be performed for the base Object Service component: 1) before installing any of the related gateway products packaged separately as listed above under "Environment" -and- 2) before you receive and apply any maintenance such as Hotfixes to the product
When you install any related products such as a gateway, you must also ACCEPT those SMP/E components before applying any Hotfix maintenance.
TIBCO also recommends that you ACCEPT each Hotfix level prior to receiving and applying any additional Hotfix.
Future documentation will make the use of SMP/E ACCEPT processing clearer.
