Resolution:
It should be ok for Promotions that do NOT include DB2 objects; however if DB2 objects are involved then R5.0 DB PTF 11990 may cause some issues.
It has been determined that the R5.0 DB PTF 11990 must be applied to an R4.x database prior to PROMOTE/LOAD of any DB2 definitions originating from an R5.0 database.
Although, the LOAD of DB2 definitions in the converse direction will work without this PTF being APPLYed to R4.x system; the above requirement will stand for Promotions of DB2 definitions from R4.x system to an R5.0 system.
Users who will like to apply this R5.0 DB PTF to their R4.x system should contact TIBCO Support, quoting Ref No 1-AS6SC7, to obtain the R5.0 PTF11990 specially packaged for 4.x environment.
After this PTF has been applied to R4.x system, any Promotions prepared *before* the PTF was applied will fail; however, any R4.x Promotions prepared *after* this PTF should be ok to go on the R4.x system. Therefore, you need to ensure that before this PTF is applied to R4.x system, any pending R4.x Promotions that were prepared *before* this PTF was applied, have been dealt with.
If you apply this PTF to your R4.x environment before you have upgraded to R5.0, when the R5.0 upgrade maintenance is applied, the system will 'know' that this PTF is already ON. This is ok and will not affect upgrade process.
When you have upgraded to R5.0, in case of a fall-back, any promotions prepared on R5.0 will be ok to go on R4.x providing R4.x has this PTF applied.
