BusinessConnect (BC) 3.X and BC EDI Protocol 2.X allowed the transport of text files in addition to standard EDI documents using the EDI-Gateway protocol in order to support the AS1 and AS2 protocols.  With the moving of the AS1 and AS2 protocols to the main BC product, BC EDI 5.X restricts the usage of the EDI-Gateway to only EDI document.

Cause:
==========
The BC 5.X version of the EDI-Gateway has been optimized to support only EDI-related documents such as EDIFACT or EDI-X12.  While the EDI-Gateway transport could handle plain text documents with BC EDI 2.X, this functionality is not and will not be available in the BC EDI 5.x product going forward.
 
Resolution:

If you need this functionality going forward, please use the EZComm protocol which will support this type of usage, and will support the AS1 and AS2 protocols.
