Introduction

Execution Environment Orbix Daemon license expiry will cause TIBCO ObjectStar 3.1.x on Windows and Solaris to fail.

The third-party product Orbix Daemon from Iona Software, which was embedded in TIBCO ObjectStar up to and including Release 3.1, has a license expiry of December 31, 2010. TIBCO ObjectStar operating on Windows or Solaris will cease to function as of that date. There is no
workaround available.

The Orbix daemon code was removed from the ObjectStar product in Release 3.2. Although TIBCO ObjectStar 3.1 has been out of support since March 2002, it is still known to be in use at some customer sites. If you still have a release 3.1 system, we strongly urge you upgrade to a supported release of TIBCO Object Service Broker, which is the new product name for TIBCO ObjectStar, as soon as possible. Contact your TIBCO Account Representative if you believe you may require professional services for the upgrade.
