It is not possible to downgrade from EMS server 5.x to EMS server 4.4.x with zero down time because if you upgrade from EMS 4.x to 5.x, tibesmd makes changes to your store files that allow them to function with the multiple store feature. These changes are incompatible with 4.x and will prevent a 4.x server from starting if you try to roll back to an older version of EMS.
You need to stop all EMS instances and then run the tibemsdb5revert utility to convert the store files back to version 4.x and then start EMS 4.x.
