Description:
===========
This article details the steps required to copy a CIM environment.

Environment:
===========
This article applies to all versions of TIBCO Collaborative Information Manager (CIM), all hardware platform and Application Servers.

Symptoms:
========
Customer has a requirement to replicate a CIM environment. For example, to refresh a test environment with the current state of a production environment.

Resolution:
==========
There are two main tasks that need to be performed to enable one CIM environment to be copied to another. First, a dump of the source environment's database will need to be exported to the target environment. Second, the contents of the MQ_COMMON_DIR directory will need to be copied from the source environment to the MQ_COMMON_DIR directory on the target environment. These two steps must be performed using the same source environment; the database from one environment cannot be used with the MQ_COMMON_DIR from another environment. The MQ_COMMON_DIR directory contains all the files related to the CIM configuration, repositroy validations, workflows, mappings and customizations. It is an integral part of the CIM installation and must be copied when replicating an environment.

Once the database and the MQ_COMMON_DIR directory have been copied, two configuration files need to be updated to reflect the new database connection. These are $MQ_HOME\config\ConfigValues.xml and the datasource definition file on the Application Server. Edit $MQ_HOME\config\ConfigValues.xml and search for the attribute &ltcategory> with a description that starts with "Database connectivity". Here you will need to change the database name and user if they are different to the source environment. Now edit the datasource definition file on the Application Server and change the &ltconnection-url> and &ltuser-name> attributes to reflect the new database URL and connection user.

In summary, the following steps need to be performed:

1). Dump the database from the CIM source environment and import it to the target environment.

2). Copy the entire contents of the MQ_COMMON_DIR directory from the source environment to the MQ_COMMON_DIR directory on the target environment.

3). Edit MQ_HOME\config\Configvalues.xml on the target environment to use the correct database name and user.

4). Edit MQ_HOME\config\Configvalues.xml on the target environment to use the correct EMS server connection parameters and credentials.

5). Edit the datasource definition on the Application Server to use the correct connection URL and user.

6). Restart the Application Server.
