Certificate cannot be imported if it is in not in required format even if it contains all chain certificates. In this case, we need to change the format of the certificate to the required format.

Error seen resembles the following:

Credential Save failed. Error during examining a certificate: Untrusted certificate is found with signer 'ou=XXX XXXX XXXXX,o=XX,c=X' and serial# 'XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX'."

On Microsoft Windows machines you can change certificate format to .p7b format using the following steps:

1). Double click on certificate,go to 'Details' tab and select "Copy to File" option.

2). Select 'Cryptographic Message Syntax Standard PKCS #7 Certificates (.P7B)'.            Make sure that the option under this 'Include all certificates in the certification path if possible' is checked. Click on “next” when done.

3). Save certificate on machine and then click on “Finish”.
    
This will give you a certificate in p7b format with all chain certificates included.
