Description

Resolution:
IMS™ HDAM-OSAM and HDAM-VSAM are standard access methods used by IBM®'s IMS™ database system and are supported by "TIBCO Service Gateway™ for IMS/DB". HDAM-OSAM typically supports larger database sizes than does HDAM-VSAM.

High Availability Large Database (HALDB) supports very large IMS™ databases which exceed the size supported by both HDAM-VSAM and HDAM-OSAM. The large size is achieved by dividing the data into separate partitions which may comprise up to 10 physical datasets each. A database may be divided using 1 to 1001 partitions. Because the application interface is common between non-HALDB and HALDB databases as documented by IBM®, "TIBCO Service Gateway™ for IMS/DB" automatically supports HALDB-type databases, including Partitioned Hierarchical Direct Access Method (PHDAM).
