Description:
Dear Gridserver users,

As more users move to GS 6, we have noticed a common misunderstanding which we would like to address in this bulletin.

GridServer has always had support for alternate base directories, that is a separation between static install files and volatile files such as configuration and others. In Gridserver 6.0, we have made it mandatory. This means that from now on, your install will need to be split in 2 directories: one that we call the install directory which contains the static files and from which you launch the manager and the other the base directory which contains all the volatile files. Normally, this will be transparent to most users who simply set use defaults (/var/tibco on UNIX and c:\tibco on Windows).

However, if you do specify them, It is critical that you make sure that both the install and base directory are located in different directorie.; not doing so will result in corrupted and unrecoverable install. We highly recommend you check the install guide to make sure you understand the steps involved. Also note that you might need to re-generate the Windows service on Windows and that the procedure has also changed in 6.0.
