Can we have two different versions of the same TIBCO product running on the same server? What will be the impact on existing applications and domains after installing the newer versions?


Environment:
==========
TIBCO Administrator (Admin) 5.6.x, 5.7.x
TIBCO Runtime Agent (TRA) 5.6.x, 5.7.x
TIBCO Enterprise Message Service (EMS) 5.1.x, 6.1.x
TIBCO BusinessWorks (BW) 5.7.x, 5.9.x


Resolution:

It is normal to have multiple product versions co-exist on the same machine (in the same TIBCO_HOME). TRA 5.6.x and 5.7.x can be installed under the same TIBCO_HOME. For example under c:\tibco both the versions of TRA and Admin can be installed in the directories as shown below:
c:\tibco\tra\5.6
c:\tibco\tra\5.7
c:\tibco\admin\5.6
c:\tibco\admin\5.7

The same is true for BW and EMS install too.

After installing all of the required versions, all applications/domains can be migrated to TRA 5.7.x and Admin 5.7.x or some applications/domains can be kept on TRA 5.6.x and Admin 5.6.x and some on TRA 5.7.x and Admin 5.7.x.
