Description:
==========
Sometimes we can see the BW Service Instance to be shown in an ERROR state, but some clients want to enforce it to be in an ERROR state for testing purpose.

Environment:
==========
All

Resolution:
==========
In TIBCO Administrator, TRA:getComponentInstance uses the BW Microagent:getHostInformation to display the status. When there is no response from the Microagent:getHostInformation (time out), admin displays the status as "Error".

You can use Process Explorer (on Windows) to change the bwengine process to suspend. The state of the instance will display "Error" in a few minutes.

For Linux/Unix, you can use "kill -20 PID" or "kill -TSTP PID", where PID is the process ID of your bwengine process.
