Environment:

Symptoms:
========
1). RV/RVRD is throwing the error "system time advanced by approximately xxx seconds".

2). The time stamp for each log entry in the RV/RVRD log is also incorrect.

Example:

2012-04-30 12:40:52 rvrd: system time advanced by approximately -4398.046 secs.

2012-04-30 13:55:50 rvrd: system time advanced by approximately 4398.047 secs.

2012-04-30 12:42:32 rvrd: system time advanced by approximately -4398.046 secs.


3). When checking the system time by other means (for example, runnng "date" command within Linux), the system time is accurate.

Resolution:

The solution (#SOL1-AWR4J8) explains the meaning of "system time advanced by approximately xxx seconds". There are VMWare related settings which could cause this.

Since VMWare have different suggestion based on the VM OS type / version as well as VMWare software itself, VMWare support would be in a better position to suggest the approach to fix the time synchronization issue.
