Description
Resolution: Description: ============ After you upgraded your domain to TRA 5.7.x/Administrator 5.7.x on AIX machine, when you try to start non-upgraded BW applications by clicking the "start" button, the status of applications shows "initializing" and then turns to "Stopped". When you try to start it from the command line, it would succeed and you are able to stop it from GUI as well. Adapter application may not have this issue.
Symptoms: ======== The application process does not exist after being started it from Admin GUI. If we enabled TSM trace log, we can see the similar information in tsm.log as follows:
UPDATE STATE: MachineStatusHandler.timeElapsed().2: component instance failed to start or is not running. This message was logged after the component instance has been started over 10 seconds. Changed state from INITIALIZING to STOPPED for deployment <Deployment name> component instance: <Instance name>
Cause: ===== The root cause of this issue is incompatibility between the version of the non-upgraded BW application's JVM and the version of Hawk agent's JVM. Hawkagent actually did execute the command to bring up the application but the application somehow crashed.
Workaround: ========== The workaround is making the version of JVM consistent between BW applications and hawkagent. So customers need to perform steps of "Upgrade Applications" to upgrade JRE. For how to do this refer to our document under: TIBCO Runtime Agent-> Upgrading to Release 5.7->Chapter 1 Upgrading to Release 5.7-> Upgrade Steps->Upgrade Applications
Example command to upgrade JRE of all your applications: ./traUpgradeManager -path <TRA>/domain/<domain>/application -jre <TIBCO_HOME>/tibcojre64/1.6.0/
