No.  The 'Replication Policy' is SYNCH however the cache update operation is done by the BE engine is async since the cache update is done by a different thread.  BE does not have to wait for the sychronized replication.  See page 403 of the 5.1.1 in TIBCO BusinessEvents Developer’s Guide where it says "With asynchronous replication, the inference agent writes to a cache agent and returns. The cache provider then makes a separate call to another cache agent to make the replica. This means that the writes from the inference agent do not incur the cost of synchronous replication because replication happens on a different thread in the background."
