Description

Description:
After changing the domain admin password, running the Domain Utility ChangeDomainCredentials.xml immediately after that generates the error:

Executing task: ChangeDomainCredentials
Validating credentials
Validation Failed: Failed to connect to TIBCO Administration Domain (orinocoit-int1). Please make sure the domain is up and running.
Operation Failed.  Please view the log for more details.

Symptoms:
After changing the admin user password, domainutilitycmd ChangeDomainCredentials reports the error:

Validating credentials
Validation Failed: Failed to connect to TIBCO Administration Domain (orinocoit-int1). Please make sure the domain is up and running.
Operation Failed.  Please view the log for more details.

Admin server can be restarted without having any issues and the admin user can login to the admin UI with the new password although the DU has not changed the properties file.

Cause:
One possible reason is that the RV notifier appears in the domain properties files while the domain uses the EMS transport. When using EMS as the domain transport, there should not be any RV notifier properties for daemon or service in the AdministrationDomain.properties as well as the AuthorizationDomain.properties file. Note: The RV parameters in the properties file causes the Domain Utility not to be able to connect to the Administration server which produces the error.

Issue/Introduction

Unable to Change Domain Credentials.

Resolution

Removing the RV parameters in the AdministrationDomain.properties and the AuthorizationDomain.properties files should resolve this issue.
