Description:
The recent fixes for IBM APARs OA43003 or OA43153 introduce a bug into VSAM PUT processing where, in some cases, the RPLDDDD field of the RPL control block is not updated.
This causes OSB to lose it's positioning during writing of journal records. The symptoms of this problem are
1) The continuous backup processing is compromised.
and
2) Abend U0102 and DOB failure when end of journal is encountered leading to multiple system outages.
IBM have PEed the 2 Apars and opened APAR OA45556 for this problem. A fix should be available shortly.
If you are about to go to z/OS 2.1 or are about to apply maint updates to z/OS 2.1 please ensure OA43003 or OA43153 are not applied. If they are then make sure to apply the fix for APAR OA45556, IBM PTF UA72628.
