Administrative connections are handled differently than regular connections, where local authentication is always attempted before JAAS. If that authentication attempt fails, the server authentication list, as specified by the server user_auth parameter, will proceed. Care should be taken not to have users of administrative connections defined both locally in the server’s user configuration file and externally through JAAS.

A special case is the default administrative user, "admin", which is always defined. If the default administrative user is to be defined elsewhere and authenticated through JAAS, one can set a private password for the default administrative user in the EMS server so local authentication will fail allowing JAAS to handle authentication.
