Description

Most changes to the TIBCO Spotfire Server configuration require a restart of the application for those changes to take effect after the configuration, after the new configuration has been saved to the database. But the list of groups that are synchronized in the LDAP configuration are dynamically read during each LDAP synchronization and do not require an application restart if that is the only configuration change made.

Issue/Introduction

Changes to the groups synchronized via LDAP Group Synchronization do not require an application restart like other server configuration changes.

Resolution

How to Modify the LDAP Groups Synchronized by the TIBCO Spotfire Server LDAP Configuration
  1. Launch the Spotfire Configuration tool:

    • Windows: Start > Programs > TIBCO Spotfire Server X.X > Configure TIBCO Spotfire Server

    • Linux: # sh /path/to/tibco/tss/x.x.x/tomcat/bin/uiconfig.sh

  2. Enter configuration tool password to unlock the configuration.

  3. On Configuration tab, click User Directory: LDAP

  4. In the Group Synchronization > Groups section of your LDAP configuration, add or a remove groups as desired.

  5. Click Save configuration... and save the configuration to the database.

Upon the next synchronization the TIBCO Spotfire server will automatically read the changes to the groups listed in the active LDAP configurations > Group Synchronization > Groups list. No restart of the TIBCO Spotfire Server is required.
