Description

Many times, you may need to add contexts from multiple domains when creating your Spotfire LDAP configuration. To do this you will need to use the Global Catalog service and will need to reference a Global Catalog server in your TIBCO Spotfire Server LDAP configuration.

IMPORTANT: If you do not know if you have a Global Catalog server or are not sure which server to reference in your Active Directory, then you must speak with your AD team to obtain that information. TIBCO Support cannot know which servers we might be able to or are allowed to connect to and cannot make recommendations about the customer's environment.

Issue/Introduction

How to find a list of Global Catalog servers on your network.

Resolution

The following commands will list all Global Catalog Servers in your Active Directory domain.

1) From the command prompt, type nslookup.
> nslookup
2) Set the type to server.
> set type=srv
3) Find the Global Catalog Server(s).
> _gc._tcp.<DnsForestName>
Example:
>_gc._tcp.mydomain.com
The results will include the hostname and IP address of each Global Catalog Server.

4) Type "exit" to leave the nslookup session.
