Issue/Introduction
TIBCO BusinessWorks 6.2 and domain location.
Resolution
We moved the domains into a version specific subfolder in version 6.2.0. This was to avoid compatibility issues between versions, especially when using ActiveSpaces as the datastore. The ActiveSpaces persistence is configured by default to store the data in the domain's folder. It does not work across different versions. All of that can be changed by configuration. The domain's folder can reside anywhere in the filesystem as long as it is readable and writable by the bwagent. Specify the -home argument in the create domain command. The ActiveSpaces persistence can be changed by setting the bw.agent.technology.as.dataStoreLocation property in the bwagent.ini file to point to anywhere else in the filesystem. These changes were made for simplicity of the most common use cases. Leaving the location as it was in the beginning caused problems with adoption for many others. Lastly, we recommend creating the environment again when upgrading to a newer version. Simply make a backup using the backup command from the Admin CLI and then apply the backup again in the 6.3 environment. This will recreate the entire environment in a single command.
