Issue/Introduction

TIBCO ActiveSpaces - Steps to upgrade TIBCO ActiveSpaces 2.1.2 to 2.1.5.

Resolution

To start the upgrade, follow the steps below. Before starting, make sure you have an external backup of the data. Note that all nodes need to be taken down before the cluster can be restarted as the two versions are not compatible.

1). Kill all the Seeders. Do not execute the command 'execute on members leave space 'space-name'. The command 'execute on members leave space' will cause a delay for the Seeder nodes as it causes redistribution.

2). Using as-admin, check that all members are removed from the cluster. Since leech nodes do not store any data, their cleanup should be fast.

3). After all members have left all spaces, stop all as-agents.

4). Stop as-admin.

5). Install the new ActiveSpaces version.

6). Start as-admin and connect to create the Metaspace. Do not create the spaces yet.

7). Make sure as-agents are given the same name as they were assigned earlier. Member name is used to assign each Seeder their respective file. If naming is not done, a Seeder may not load data.

8). Start all Seeders (as-agents) connecting to the metaspace.

9). Make sure all Seeders have joined the cluster.

10). Recreate definition to all spaces (create the spaces).

11). Run the 'qldump' command to check all spaces that are persisted with SN persistence are in RECOVER state.

12). Run the command 'recover space space-name' with data for all spaces.
