Description

Resolution:
Data stored within the TIBCO BusinessWorks ProcessMonitor (BWPM) database will automatically be deleted after it has expired. A user with “manage” privilege for a domain object can configure the retention period by selecting the corresponding domain object from the DOT and selecting “Administration”. BWPM allows users to set different retention policies for Processes, Events, Tracks and Trace.

1). Process: This field controls the retention for process (instance/job) data. If you set data retention to 10 days, BWPM will store process data (job/instance) for the last 10 days only. If you set this field to 10 days, then you will not see data older than 10 days in the Main View of the BWPM GUI.

2). Events: This field controls the retention for Events (info/success/warn/error) data. If you set data retention to 7 days, BWPM will store event data (info/success/warn/error) for the last 7 days only. If you set this field to 7 days, then you will not see event data in the Events tab in the Main View of the BWPM GUI for the entries (job/instance) in Main View older than 7 days.

3). Tracks: This field controls the retention for Tracks (Transition from one activity to other activity) data. If you set data retention to 5 days, BWPM will store Track data (Transition - green line from one activity to other activities in the Process Diagram tab) for the last 5 days only. If you set this field to 5 days, then you will not see Tracks data in the Process Diagram tab of the BWPM GUI for the entries (job/instance) in the Main View older than 5 days. In the Process Diagram tab, it will show a Warning (yellow Triangle) and pop up the message (TRACK DATA MISSING) for older (for which track data is deleted) processes (instance/job).

4). Trace: This field controls the retention for Trace input/output data for activity and process data. When you enable tracing in BWPM, it stores Trace data for that process data. If you set data retention to 3 days, BWPM will store Trace data for the last 3 days. If you set this field to 3 days, you will not see trace data in the Trace Table tab of the Process Diagram tab of the BWPM GUI for the entries (job/instance) in the Main View older than 3 days.

By default, BWPM stores different types of data for different periods of time. The shortest (default) retention period is for trace data (7 days), followed by track data (14 days) and event and process data (30 days). Your data retention setting will control how much data for some of the important database tables will be kept. BWPM has a system job "NJAMS_JOB_DATA_MANAGEMENT" which runs every midnight to clean up the BWPM database. In the background, BWPM calls the SQL procedure 'PROC_DATA_MANAGEMENT' to delete older data from the database tables(njams_t_monitor_main;njams_t_monitor_attributes;njams_t_monitor_tracks,njams_t_monitor_bwtrace and njams_t_monitor_events).

You can find more details in the "TIBCO BusinessWorks Process Monitor Server Administration Guide.pdf->Job Control->NJAMS_JOB_DATA_MANAGEMENT" section.
