Description

In Table plot, a column can be converted to link, such as http://www.google.com, using link renderer, but we may want to use file paths other than HTTP addresses, for example,  "file://C:/temp".

Issue/Introduction

How to allow link renderer in a Table Plot to use file paths (file://C:/temp) instead of HTTP addresses.

Resolution

To allow file paths in addition to HTTP addresses, perform the following steps from Tools > Administration manager, once you have logged in with Administrator privileges.

1). Go to Tools-> Administration Manager-> Preferences.

2). Select Everyone > Application > ApplicationPreferences and click EDIT.

3). Set both these options, i.e. 'Allow Additional File Extensions' and 'Allow Additional Uri Schemes' to True.
Note: If you are on using Spotfire version 7.13.x and higher, you need to add your URI address (e.g. file://C:/temp)  in the 'Whitelist for Allowed URIs' preference. Alternatively, you could also set 'Use Whitelist for Allowed URIs' to False to remove the restriction and allow all file paths although this is not recommended for security reasons.

4). Restart the Spotfire client.

See Screenshot (attached file) "Preferencessetting.PNG" .

Note:

1). Additional File Extensions must be set to True if you want to be able to use additional file extensions.

2). If allowed, additional Uri Schemes is set to True and Additional Uri Schemes is left empty, then all URI schemes are allowed.
