When importing a .csx file into BusinessConnect (BC), the import fails. The error message looks similar to the following:

Failed to import. Can't overwrite cause with java.io.CharConversionException: Invalid UTF-8 middle byte 0x3f (at char #1510, byte #37)

Issue/Introduction

BusinessConnect 6.X.X can not import .csx file.

Resolution

This error can occur if the export was done from a Domain repository that used ISO-8859-1 encoding. BusinessConnect requires the use of UTF-8 encoding in the domain. This can be an issue if you are using Latin-2 characters in the trading partner name or property strings (characters like À,ÈÌ, etc.). Unfortunately, there is no definitive workaround to this issue.  You can try to eliminate these characters from your source BC installation before exporting the .csx file as a possible workaround.
