Does the EMS server have any restrictions on the number of digits in connection IDs (longer connection IDs)? Is there a maximum limit on the connection IDs that it can generate? Is there a manual way to reset the connection ID?

The maximum number a connection ID can reach is that of a 64-bit signed integer. However big a connection ID, it has no impact on performance. There is no way to limit or to set the connection ID counter to one particular value. Restarting a server that is not configured for FT does reset it to 0. For servers that are configured for FT, you would have to close all active connections on the active server and wait for them to be purged (until they do not show up under "show connections" in tibemsadmin) before triggering a failover. Then the standby would start at a connection ID close to 0. If you do not do that, the connection IDs being persisted in the meta.db file will keep growing. Deleting the metadb is not an option under normal operations.
