Description

Description:
This article will describes how to configure the BusinessConnect's EMAIL transport to work with Google's mail system, GMAIL.

Resolution

The emaik has to be configured in two places. Before configuring the POP3 (inbound) and SMTP (outbound) email transports. You must download the certificates from Google.

There are two certificates that need to be downloaded. These can be done using the "Fetch Third Party Certificate" under the Administrator>BusinessConnect>System Settings>Certificate Store. Fetch the smtp.gmail.com certificate using port 465. Get the pop.gmail.com certificate using port 995. Once you import the certificates, export the pop.gmail.com certificate as it will be needed for the next step.

The inbound POP server is configured under Administrator>BusinessConnect>System Settings>Inbound EMAIL POP3 Servers. The "Mail POP3 Server" should be pop.gmail.com with your gmail username and password. Check the "SSL" box and upload the pop.gmail.com certificate exported in the previous step into the Trusted Certificate hyperlink. Set the "Verify Host Name" and "Strong Cipher Suites Only" as desired.

The outbound SMTP server is configured under Administrator>BusinessConnect>System Settings>Outbound HTTP/FTP Proxy and Mail SMTP Servers. Select "Add", provide a name and "SMTP" as the type. On the next screen, provide the SMTP server name ("smtp.gmail.com:587"), your username and password for the respective Proxy User Name and Proxy password fields. For the Server Certificate, select the smtp.gmail.com certificate uploaded earlier. For the Server Transport Mode, select STARTTLS.  Save when done.

Once configured, go to Administrator>Application Management>BusinessConnect>Configuration and deploy your configuration. If it has been previously deployed, redeploy it (even if it says it is synchronized). Once done, BC should be able to send and receive email from your GMAIL account.
