Description

The Spotfire Server server.log file does not roll over. It continues to grow uninterrupted after the max back up number is reached.

The server logs will roll over to the max backup value and then stop rolling over. In the log4j.properties and log4j-debug.properties files, the Max file size is set to “log4j.appender.serverlog.MaxFileSize=10000KB” and the max back up is "log4j.appender.serverlog.MaxBackupIndex=9" . But the log file grows beyond 10MB of size and seems to be corrupted or locked. All settings look OK and "jdk" is good as well.

Issue/Introduction

For when the Spotfire Server server.log file does not roll over.

Resolution

There is corruption in the server.log file and/or logs directory.

Delete the tomcat/logs folder and restart the Spotfire Server service. The "logs" folder will be recreated.
