Resolution:
GCC 3.4 binaries can be used with GCC 4.x compilers to build C++ clients. The GCC 3.4 label is used on the Engine Configuration page for applications built with both GCC 3.4 and GCC 4.x. Compiler compatibility is based on name mangling and standard C++ library compatibility.
