Video link (YouTube):https://youtu.be/-CbJlfb3R9U?list=PLnmoGGHHJldgVvlSfqk0-EuoSUuamvwlnIncluded below are the video captions, to provide a quick overview of what is covered in the video. In this video we will go through how to get your data from CISCO Information Server into your TIBCO Spotfire report using Information Links.
We will use the example views already created for us during the installation.
In order to access any data from external applications, we need to ensure that we have a service set up that is accessible.
We can see that the only database service available is the system service, we do not want to use this for this example.
Instead we right-click the Databases folder, and choose to create a new Composite to Databases Service.
We will name it "example".
The database services will work as schemas, so when defining our connection string later on the database will be set to "example"
Now that we have our service in place, let us go back and highlight the views we want to expose.
Now that they are highlighted, right click the views and choose Publish.
You will see that our new database service is listed, and highlighted.
We will just go ahead and press OK.
And that is everything we need to do on the CISCO Information Server side.
Now it is time to open the TIBCO Spotfire Server Configuration Tool.
After opening this, and typing in your password, we want to go to the Configuration tab.
Here we want to highlight data source templates in the left menu, and choose the Spotfire Application Data Services template.
Notice the status bar at the bottom now, we have a red text telling us that the TIBCO Spotfire Server cannot find the driver for this template.
We will fix this in a moment, but for now go ahead and check the check-box for the template.
Now go ahead and press Save Configuration, and make sure to save it to the database.
Type in an understandable description of the changes you've made, and finalize the save.
Now we need to make sure the driver is installed, so let us get the driver from the ADS installation directory
Right-click the driver, and choose to copy the file
Now we need to move to the TIBCO Spotfire Server library folder
Right-click anywhere in the folder and choose to paste the file
Now all we need to do is to restart the TIBCO Spotfire Server, and everything should be set up for connecting towards CISCO Information Server from the TIBCO Spotfire Server.
The user in charge of setting up the Information Models should now be able to log in to the TIBCO Spotfire installed client, open Information Designer, create a new data source using the Spotfire Application Data Services template, and access all items published under the example database service.
