When creating a sample DTD with attributes in the rule function and mapping the DTD to a sample event, the Event.createEvent function payload is not visible in the XPath editor. The Function Argument mapping window is blank.

As per the BW documentation: "ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks 6.x currently does not support DTD natively." The BusinessEvents mapper does not natively support DTDs. As a workaround, the .dtd file must be converted to an .xsd file. You can use any third party tool to do this conversion. BE does not provide this conversion as this is not supported.
