Resolution:
In BW 6.x the Oracle driver in the dropdown is - "oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver". In BW 5.x, the Oracle driver in the dropdown is "oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver". According to the Oracle website, the "oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver" is deprecated and the new driver is "oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver". We continue to use these drivers in BW 5.x versions and new driver in BW6.x versions. You will need to be careful when copy/pasting the driver when moving from a 5.x to to a 6.x project development.
