Issue/Introduction
How to configure Disaster Recovery (DR) setup for four DR appliances?
Resolution
Disaster recovery requires four appliances, known as a quad. A quad is divided into two fault-tolerant pairs, the production pair and the backup pair. The terms production and backup here indicate the physical location, or site, of the appliances. The appliances at the production site are designated Production-A and Production-B, whereas the appliances at the backup site are designated Backup-A and Backup-B. An appliance's designation is distinct from but related to its role.
There are two roles in disaster recovery: DR leader and DR member. In most cases, Production-A is the DR leader, while the three remaining appliances, Production-B, Backup-A and Backup-B, are DR members. After the initial setup is complete on all four appliances, connectivity exists, and all four roles have been correctly established. You can use the following steps to configure and activate DR..
1). Run 'dr-config' on all machines (Production-A, Production-B, Backup-A, Backup-B is the usual order).
2). Run 'key-accept' on Production-A.
3). Run 'key-join' on Production-B, Backup-A, Backup-B.
4). Run 'dr-check' all 4 just to confirm the key-joins where successful.
5). Run 'dr-activate' Production-A.
6). Run "info" to check the status on all appliances.
