When generating an EAR from BE Studio, it does not allow use of a shared location, e.g., //testMachine/shared/location/test.ear . With the same file location, the studio-tools command works.

Workaround.
2). For Windows, a user could map a local drive to that network location and use the local drive in the output field. For example, map testMachine to Z:\ and use Z:\shared\location\test.ear in the UI.
1). A user may create a studio-tools launch configuration from the BE Studio with proper settings. This way, BE Studio could still be used but the user would effectively launch a command line tool from the UI.
2). For Windows, a user could map a local drive to that network location and use the local drive in the output field. For example, map testMachine to Z:\ and use Z:\shared\location\test.ear in the UI.
Additional Information
This is a limitation on BE 5.2.x and will be fixed in 5.3.0 as per BE-23343
