The BusinessConnect Gateway Servers use the RV configuration under the Fault Tolerance tab of the FILE service, to coordinate the operation of the inbound file poller. The Gateway Servers are designed such that only one Gateway Server will poll the directory, and the other Gateway Servers will monitor the polling Gateway Server via heartbeats. Should the polling Gateway Server fail, another Gateway Server will start polling the directory.
Because RV is used, all GS instances must be on the same subnet, or RVRD needs to be configured so that heartbeat traffic can flow between GS instances on the configured RV channel. Also, all GS Servers running the file poller must use the same Gateway Service definition.
