Issue/Introduction

How to set a landing page for a group of users.

Resolution

A landing page can be set in the authoring client that will allow users to have default maps allocated to them when they log into the web-server. This is useful as it will allow you to assign small or large groups of users a map that holds all the information you wish for them to see without them needing to navigate to the map. There are certain rules that need to be taken into account before you start assigning the landing page. They are as follows:

Landing pages can only be assigned to the default user groups in Nimbus.
You cannot set landing pages for custom groups.
You can set landing pages for specific users but this will override the landing page of the groups they are assigned to.

Now that we know how and where landing pages can be used we will now look at assigning these to a group of users.

1). Log into the authoring client with an Administrator account.
2). Navigate to the Administration > System option found on the toolbar at the top of the client.
3). Go the Default <insert group name here> settings found on the menu on the left of the window.
4). You will see an option that says landing pages you know need to select the landing page you want to give this group and push OK.

As you can see one of the limitations of this is only being able to select the default groups created in the Nimbus tool. However, if you wish to assign a landing page to a custom group that you have created you can follow the steps below:

1). Log into the authoring client with an Administrator account.
2). Navigate to Tools > Users > User accounts.
3). Right click on the group you want to assign a landing page too.
4). Make sure all the users that you want to assign a landing page to are in there.
5). Click on the first user at the top of the list and then press Ctrl + A to select all of the users in the group.
6). Right click any user while the others are still highlighted and click on the properties tab.
7). From here select the Details tab and then using the landing page option pick the correct landing page.
8). Push OK and the landing page should be applied to all users.

Note that if you do not see any landing pages in the drop down list it is because you have not created any.
