  Defect ID: EMS-3729
     Fixed a problem that prevented EMS clients from failing when the EMS server failed to extend the used portion of the store file. This only affects file-based stores.

Symptoms:
========

When the EMS server failed to extend the store file it printed the message, "Failed opening a batch to…" in its log file but no error was reported to the EMS client. This could happen if the EMS server required additional file space but the disk partition was full. This only affects file-based stores.

Resolution:
==========

To avoid this issue, please be sure that the disk partition where the store files are located has sufficient space for your maximum message backlog. Additionally, monitor the EMS server's log file to detect if this condition occurs again. If it does occur, shutdown all message producers and allow the consumers to consume the outstanding messages. When this is complete, restart the server. To remedy this issue, please apply EMS 5.1.5 Hotfix_7 or EMS 6.01 Hotfix_2.
