Description

Post configuration of the Web Monitor for Cluster, the node was “Inaccessible” and the Daemon status was “Unavailable” for that node. The other node was not visible in Web Monitor UI.

Prerequisites:
==========

1.Enable Monitor Server à True
2.Enable Data Collection à True
3.CIS Host (This property can be accessed from Administration->Configuration within Studio) -> One of the nodes of the cluster
4.CIS Port (This property can be accessed from Administration->Configuration within Studio) -> Port number of that node
5.CIS Password (This property can be accessed from Administration->Configuration within Studio) -> Password of the ‘monitor’ user for that node
6.The TDV that is hosting Monitor cannot be a member of the cluster

I verified all these settings and they were accurately setup and the Monitor password was the default one -> monitor.

As per the design, configuring one Cluster node to the TDV Web Monitor instance successfully should add the rest of the nodes automatically in the Web Monitor UI. In this case, only one node is displayed with the “Inaccessible” status.

Issue/Introduction

Post configuration of the Web Monitor for Cluster, the node was “Inaccessible” and the Daemon status was “Unavailable” for that node. The other node was not visible in Web Monitor UI.

Resolution

Root Cause and Solution:
===================

1.Update the ‘Monitor’ user password for the Cluster node (that was being configured) from the Web Manager
2.For the old (incorrect) password on the Web Monitor node (for CIS Password setting),   " Inaccessible” status is displayed.
3.After updating the password to the new password, that node became available on the Web Monitor and the traffic for that node is displayed.
4. After performing the above steps, strangely only 1 node became available. I updated the ‘Monitor’ user password (to the same as the first node’s Monitor user)
 for the other cluster node and entered the new password on the Web Monitor node. After making this change, both nodes showed up but only one of them was accessible.

Essentially, if “Inaccessible” exception is displayed, it could be due to failed authentication as well. Hence check for Monitor password and update that information accordingly.
