Description

The Send Email functionality in TIBCO Spotfire Automation Job Builder has the option of attaching files like .pdf, .csv etc. The attached files dialog provides the option of selecting a desired file for the attachment and "Title of attachment". Once the file is selected for attachment, there are cases you may want to change the title of the file in email attachment. If the title is left empty, by default whatever the name of file will appear in email attachment along with extension. If the title of attachment is provided, the file attached in email is without extension and such files cannot be opened

Issue/Introduction

This article describes changes to be made in automation job to be able to open files attached in email

Resolution

This happens because the "Title of attachment" field expects the file name along with the extension of the file. For eg: if title is specified as Sales Data, your email will contain Sales Data in attchment without any extension. If the title is specified as Sales Data.xlsx, then your email will contains Sales Data excel file which you would be able to open.

Example of a file which cannot be opened directly (without manually downloading and renaming to include a file type extension):
