Issue/Introduction

While upgrading the TIBCO Spotfire Server to version 10.3 or 10.4 and selecting “Copy Configuration from: Previous server installation” the upgrade tool does not proceed to the next step.

Resolution

For TIBCO Spotfire server 10.3.0 and 10.3.1:

This is a known issue which is fixed in version TIBCO Spotfire server 10.3.2.

For TIBCO Spotfire server 10.4.0:

This is seen if the older server version (referenced in the "Previous server installation" input) does not have a bootstrap.xml file located in the "<server-install>/tomcat/webapps/spotfire/WEB-INF/" directory. Below are a few possible ways to resolve this problem:

Solution 1: Cancel the upgrade then verify that the older Spotfire Server can be started without any issues and ensure that the bootstrap.xml file is present in the "<server-install>/tomcat/webapps/spotfire/WEB-INF/" directory. Then start the upgrade tool again.

Solution 2: When running the TIBCO Spotfire Server upgrade tool, on the "File Systems Locations" page, choose the "Do not copy configuration" option and click "Next". The Database Type and Driver panel is displayed. Here, specify the database and database driver you are using and continue upgrading the server.

Solution 3: Run the TIBCO Spotfire Server upgrade tool silently. See the Running the Spotfire Server upgrade tool silently reference for more details.
