While upgrading to Spotfire 10.3 or higher, the following warning may be seen after the upgrade is completed:
The data source MYDATASOURCE using NTLM authentication requires manual update The DLL-based NTLM authentication method has been removed from the DataDirect JDBC driver for Microsoft SQL Server. The configuration of the data source has been updated to use a Java-based NTLM authentication method that requires a user and a password to be specified. Please update the data source with a user and a password, or switch to another authentication method such as Kerberos.
Example:
This is because the data sources mentioned in the warning are using NTLM authentication to Microsoft SQL Server through TIBCO DataDirect SQL Server JDBC driver. Starting Spotfire 10.3, this driver does not support DLL-based NTLM authentication that automatically uses the account running the Spotfire server service to authenticate against the data source. Instead, this driver now supports java based NTLM authentication which takes a username and password that is entered manually, while saving the data source in Information Designer.
