Description

When creating a property control in the DXP file, there are three options - Document, Data Table, and Column. Which option should be used?

Issue/Introduction

When creating a property control in the DXP file, there are three options - Document, Data Table, and Column. Which option should be used?

Resolution

There is no difference among these types other than the scope. A Document property will apply throughout the Document (DXP), a Data Table property will only apply to the specified data table and a Column property will only apply to the specified column. In practice it is fine to use Document Property for all situations unless you know that you want to limit its scope.
