Which Oracle Database Edition with Amazon RDS for Oracle is recommended for Statistica Meta Database?
Resolution
If using BYOL for Amazon Oracle RDS, the most recommended Oracle edition for TIBCO Statistica's meta database is the Enterprise Edition. The enterprise edition is recommended primarily because Statistica caches the data of some tables that rarely change using Query results cache (which is a feature that is only available in the Enterprise Edition) . Other considerations to choose Enterprise Edition over Standard Editions could be :
High Availability: HA functionality in Oracle is only available with EE. If your Oracle database administrator can setup and manage the HA functionality, and your application requires HA for the Statistica deployment, then this would mean that we recommend EE
Auditing: Statistica application has its own auditing. However, if your application uses an Oracle back-end for data storage, you can use the "Fine-grained Auditing" functionality (listed under the Security functionality section) to add audit trails for transactions made within the data store.
Having said that, Enterprise Edition (EE) is not required but it can be expected to provide performance improvements over using the Standard Editions (SE,SE1,SE2) . If performance and high availability of the application is key, then Oracle Enterprise Edition is most recommended for your deployment with TIBCO Statistica.
