This article discusses the error "Cannot import non-published resource" while importing a .CAR file.
Issue/Introduction
While importing a .CAR file of my published resource, I am receiving an error "Cannot import non-published resource"
Resolution
To resolve the error, follow the steps below.
(1) Take two exports: one of the published resource, and one of the non-published resource.
For the sake of illustration, let's say that the names of the exports are Orders_NON_PUBLISHED.car and Orders_PUBLISHED.car
(2) Import Orders_NON_PUBLISHED.car into the non-published area (i.e. into the /shared folder)
(3) Import the Orders_PUBLISHED.car into the published area (i.e. into the Composite Data Services folder)
Note
After importing, if you see a red impact icon appear next to the published resource, it indicates that you need to rebind the resource.
