Resolution
No. TIBCO Spotfire Statistics Services (TSSS) hotfixes can only upgrade the built-in TIBCO Enterprise Runtime for R (TERR) engine.
Applying a hotfix to a TSSS instance that uses open-source R as its statistical engine will not change the open-source R version. That must be done manually, using the same instructions in the TSSS administration manual that were used when the TSSS instance was configured to use open-source R. (See the section with the title "Configuring an Open-Source R Engine".)
Open-source R is not a TIBCO product, and the license terms used for open-source R do not allow companies like TIBCO to provide it to our customers. Our customers must always download open-source R from the open-source R community's CRAN repository (https://cran.r-project.org/), then install it.
This is also true for TSSS instances that have been configured to use SAS or MATLAB as the statistical engine. Any changes to the version of SAS or MATLAB in use must be made manually, using instances of SAS or MATLAB that have been purchased directly from the companies that publish them.
