TIBCO LogLogic Enterprise Virtual Appliance 6.2.1 and higher

Description

Starting with upgrading to LMI 6.2.1 the /boot folder of the current LMI version is preserved prior to upgrading by copying /boot to /loglogic/upgrade_preserved/boot. This is useful in case certain boot-related issues occur that require the need to restore GRUB or kernel files. The procedure for using this information will differ depending on what issue has occurred. Sometimes the GRUB configuration must be restored because the system can't properly boot from the /failsafe partition so restoring the previous GRUB config will allow booting from the files on /boot to allow re-trying the upgrade again.

Before making any changes to /boot, it is recommended to contact TIBCO Support to assist with the recovery process.

Issue/Introduction

Starting with LMI 6.2.1 the entire /boot directory is backed up to a location under /loglogic to be used in the event that kernel or GRUB files need to be restored due to a failed upgrade.

Environment

Users must be running 6.2.1 and higher LMI version.
