Description

This article describes how to import data files using the "Import Spreadsheet node". 
Import Spreadsheet node is used to import all the types of data files into Statistica. It requires specifying the fully qualified pathname of the data file on the system which needs to be imported. 

Note: The file type usually used is - .xls, .xlsx, .txt, .csv, .xml, etc

Environment

Windows Only.

Resolution

Data files can be imported into a Statistica spreadsheet in a workspace.

1. Launch Statistica and click on open from the Home tab
2. Open a blank workspace or any workspace.
2. When the workspace is in the active window, type "Import" in the feature finder on the top right-hand corner of Statistica. Double click on Import Spreadsheet to add the node to the workspace.

Alternatively, open the Node Browser and choose the Import Spreadsheet node by expanding the tree view on the left-hand pane Data>> Import/Export>> Import >> Import Spreadsheet.

3. Click on the gear icon on the top left corner of the Import Spreadsheet node to open the parameters dialog. Specify the fully qualified pathname of the data file which is to be imported from the system.

4. Ensure the file path is correct, Click OK, and run the node.

Section 1: If the imported file is of the text file type:
File type - .txt, .csv, etc.

Section 2: If the imported file type is of excel format:
File type - .xls, .xlsx, etc.

5. Click on the  OK button to open the Data file as a Statistica Spreadsheet. The data is now available in a Statistica spreadsheet for further transformation/analysis.
